Our Story

It all started in a home in Wisconsin where the perfect tone of light was discovered. The homeowner realized that when an incandescent bulb is dimmed all the way down to where it is barely on, it produces a very warm color tone. That tone of light helps a person unwind after a long day, makes a person want to snuggle up with their partner, and was the perfect tone to relax to. It gave that same feeling of being in front of a fireplace on a cold night.

There were some big issues with achieving that tone of light. Since the incandescent bulbs were dimmed way down, they produced little light. When the lights were made brighter that relaxing tone of light changed to a colder whiter light. Then entered the incandescent vintage style Edison light bulbs that looked really cool. They were able to produce a decent amount of light while putting off that perfect color tone.

The owner noticed major flaws with these incandescent Edison light bulbs. They were not environmentally friendly due to high electric usage and seldom lasted a full year. These bulbs even though beautiful to look at, were going to cost greatly over time.

This is when the search to replicate the Edison style look while being energy efficient and long lasting began. It ended a year later when the ability to produce curved LED filaments fulfilled all the attributes we believe makes the perfect light bulb – color tone, energy efficiency, long lasting and visually beautiful.

This was the birth of Tomalson. Our story is still being written, but we believe we have a bright future…
